Action: Collected valuable insight from engineers who advanced into the systems engineering role. Redesigned the job so that it had fewer “must haves” requirements. Defined critical knowledge, skills, behaviors, and industry expertise of stellar systems engineers. Ensured compensation was more than competitive for attracting and retaining talent. Worked across the organization to gain commitment to filling the talent pipeline with internal and external candidates.

Result: Doubled the number of systems engineers promoted from within; increased the number of lateral moves between engineering job families. Successfully recruited external talent through select recruiting organizations. Increased knowledge management initiatives to capture critical intellectual capital.
